Oklahoma is no longer known...
...as the state where the wind comes sweeping down the plains.
Now the Sooner State leads the world in seismic activity.
More than 5,000 earthquakes have been recorded in Oklahoma - three times as many as California.
Officials, now, believe that fracking is not the cause of earthquakes.
The real problem is the disposal of wastewater.
Hydraulic fracking extracts far more waste water from underground than traditional drilling.
Currently there are no ways of treating, storing or releasing the billions of gallons of wastewater on the surface.
Instead, drillers pump fluid back underground below groundwater, into wells where it sometimes triggers earthquakes.
Oil companies injected more than 1.1 billion barrels of wastewater into the ground.
Oklahoma now has an earthquake rate 600 times higher than its pre-fracking rate.
More than 300 people attended a town hall meeting, recently, after 4 plus magnitude earthquakes hit the area.
Many voiced concerns about home values and safety.

Some state officials report that Oklahomans are going to foot the bill for higher costs...
..."people don't realize the overall impact. It's unfortunate that homeowners will pay the bill for the sake of oil companies."

For 10 years Jackie Dill called her 1930s rock home, her forever home.
"Now isn't lovely" says Dill, as she shakes the cracked column on her front porch.
"We planned to live the rest of our lives here and be comfortable, but that doesn't look like it is going to happen"
