There was a time, when a news event occurred, I was there. When I called my wife to tell her, I was going to that news event, she would asked "how many children were involved" - that was the way we gaged how serious the event was, by the number of children involved. Finally, I discovered photographing birds was my escape - my theraphy. And I became fixed on the tropical birds near our Florida home. And then when we moved back to Oklanoma, I wanted to film local birds - birds in "my backyard".   It is amazing how birds you can find near your home.  I do not photograph birds flying for the most part, I do "portraits" of them. I want them in their settings.
